NFT SECURES UNIQ CONTRACT

28/02/07

NFT, the leading provider of time critical logistics services to the food retail and manufacturing sectors, has secured a new distribution and warehousing contract with Uniq plc, the European chilled convenience group.

The contract will involve NFT collecting Uniq’s circa 100 product lines of desserts and cottage cheese, which are produced in Evercreech, Somerset, and transporting them to their warehouse in Bristol. From here the product will be picked to order and distributed via NFT’s shared user network to leading retailers including Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Tesco, Somerfield, Waitrose and the Co-op.

NFT will be responsible for stock-holding and bulk storage of over 500 pallets, picking some 120,000 cases and delivering around 1,500 pallets per week.

Phil Lovell, Organisation & Change Director at Uniq, said: “NFT offers us great value for money, and we were particularly impressed by the people we are dealing with as well as the company’s attitude to customer service. We have every confidence that NFT has the right experience and track record to make this relationship a success.”

On the new contract, David Frankish, Chief Executive of NFT, commented: “We are delighted to have secured this important contract with Uniq, which is a leading European food manufacturer. Business wins of this size reflect our expertise in providing both transport and warehousing services for chilled products, and reinforce our reputation as a leading logistics partner to food manufacturers and retailers.”

The Uniq contract award closely follows Sainsbury’s announcement of a three-year deal with NFT to manage its national perishable primary logistics requirements.
