THREE WINS FOR NFT

23/12/08

NFT, a leading provider of time critical logistics services for the food retail and manufacturing sectors, is pleased to announce three new contracts in quick succession for its highly successful shared user distribution network.

NFT has won contracts with fresh and chilled food suppliers including puddings specialist Farmhouse Fare, duck-range suppliers Cherry Valley and Denhay Farms, producers of dry cured bacon, with NFT managing the supply of goods into the Regional Distribution Centres (RDCs) of leading retailer Marks & Spencer.

At a time when both cost and environmental efficiencies are key, NFT has the critical mass to offer a solution to both large and small manufacturers by consolidating vehicle loads – and as the network delivers to retailer destinations on a daily basis, manufacturers can rest assured that their products will be delivered on time.

Mike Smith at Cherry Valley said: “We were attracted by the fact that NFT has extensive expertise in distributing food products to a range of retailers via its shared user network operation, which opens up consolidation opportunities in the future.“

Jim Loescher, Operations Director at Denhay Farms, said: “NFT’s shared  user distribution network enables us to enhance the accuracy of our deliveries at a competitive price.”

James Cranfield, Group Distribution Manager at Farmhouse Fare, added: “We deliver high volumes of palletised goods each week and NFT provides a cost-effective shared user logistics solution that is reliable and tailor-made to our requirements. This ensures that supermarket shelves are always well stocked with our range of traditional puddings.”

David Frankish, Chief Executive of NFT, said: “These new contracts reflect the efficiencies that NFT’s shared user network can offer our customers.  NFT’s new Daventry warehouse, which will be operational in the New Year and brings our total chill and ambient warehouse space to 700,000 sq ft, will enable us to offer more manufacturers, both large and small, the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits offered by our shared user network.”

This year marks NFT’s 25th Anniversary in time critical food distribution.  The company‘s shared user network is one of the largest operations of its kind in the UK and is ideal for customers looking to gain the economic benefit of scale with a high quality service. With over 70 food retail and manufacturer customers, NFT collects from 120 production sites and delivers to more than 200 locations nationwide on the same or the following day. Customers are also able to benefit from the use of a transport solution that minimises environmental impact through increased load fill, efficient vehicle planning and therefore a reduction in overall food miles.
