NFT, a leading provider of time critical logistics services for the food retail and manufacturing sectors, has announced that it will open a new 215,000 square foot (sq ft) warehouse facility on the DIRFT Logistics Park in Northamptonshire.
The new facility is part of NFT’s strategy to add extra capacity for value-added services in chill, whilst also widening its offering within the ambient food and drink sector. The Daventry site will boast racked storage for 25,000 pallets and multi-temperature regimes, with 150,000 sq ft dedicated to ambient storage and a further 65,000 sq ft for chilled food.
The warehouse facility will offer customers the very best in storage and picking, container de-stuffing, stock preparation, promotional re-packing and value added services, as well as a national shared-user transport service. Complete with 26 dock levellers and two level access doors, the Daventry site will build on NFTs reputation for delivering cost-effective, reliable logistics for both chilled and ambient goods.
David Frankish, Chief Executive of NFT, comments: “We have an established reputation as a leading provider of transport services to the chilled food sector. Our growth strategy is centred on using our proven track record and skills in time critical distribution to handle and deliver other food products, including fresh produce and ambient products, as well as increasing our warehousing capability.
“The transhipment operation that we run on behalf of Asda will move across to the new site in 2009, with the rest of the facility being utilised for our national shared-user network.
“The location at Daventry is strategically placed with direct access to Junction 18 of the M1, as well as an on-site railhead directly served by the West Coast Mainline.”
This year marks NFT's 25th Anniversary in time critical food distribution and they now deliver an average of 85,000 pallets of fresh food each week, with this figure set to rise with the launch of the new warehouse. The Daventry site will bring the Company's number of UK locations to eight, providing a total of 700,000 sq ft in storage.
