The Bristol operation of NFT, the UK’s leading provider of time-critical logistics services for the food and retail manufacturing sectors, has scooped two high-level awards for its commitment to Health and Safety excellence.
The Gold Awards for Occupational Health and Safety and Managing Occupational Road Risk will be presented by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) at a ceremony on May 15th. NFT was commended for its comprehensive training programme, risk-control measures and enforcement systems that have reduced accident levels by 10 per cent over the last year.
David Frankish, Chief Executive of NFT, comments: “As a business committed to best practice, NFT aims to set the industry benchmark in all areas of its operations, including health and safety. Unique and highly successful initiatives in this area include our in-house Driver Training Academy that offers NVQ qualifications, near-miss reporting and active monitoring to ensure compliance. Our health and safety results speak for themselves and we look forward to building upon our successes in the year ahead.”
David Rawlings, RoSPA Awards Manager, added: “The awards are focused on reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill health at work, as well as creating a ‘safety first’ state of mind among businesses. NFT’s warehouse and distribution divisions scored very highly and mirror the message that good health and safety reflects good business management.”
NFT’s Bristol operation at Patchway employs more than 130 people and delivers over 14,000 pallets of fresh food each week. The operation serves leading retailers such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Marks & Spencer.
