Our structure reflects the complex operations we undertake, and NFT is broadly divided into 4 business units:
Our Sainsbury Secondary business is based in our composite Distribution Centre at St Albans, where we pick circa 1 million Chilled, Ambient and Produce cases every week and deliver them to around 35 stores in the South East.
Our Sainsbury-dedicated Primary network is centred around three hubs in Crick, Waltham Point and Bristol, and delivers in the region of 48,000 pallets to Sainsbury Regional Distribution Centres and Fulfilment Factories every week, dealing with a mix of over 200 manufacturers.
Our Asda-dedicated Primary business consists of two hubs in Whitefield (Manchester) and a second depot in Crick, delivering around 25,000 pallets to Asda Distribution Centres each week, and dealing with a mix of around 120 manufacturers.
Our Shared User Network business comprises the remainder of our Primary volume, around 70 customers, including deliveries into major retailers such as Marks and Spencer, Morrisons, Somerfield, Iceland and Waitrose. We collect product from over 120 factories, and deliver it to over 200 locations nationwide on the same day. Our main transhipment hub is in Alfreton, with satellite operations in Penrith, Whitefield and Bristol, and we also carry out chill picking operations for a number of clients. NFT's Head Office is also located on the same site in Alfreton.
NFT Distribution has now created jobs for more than 1,600 employees, and runs more than 370 articulated vehicles across the business, covering over 1.4 million kilometres every week - that's equivalent to driving to the moon and back - twice!
