NFT confirms the completion of the sale of the business by Northern Foods to a management buy out, led by David Frankish and Charles Stephens and backed by Phoenix Equity Partners.

 

NFT launches dedicated Customer Services department to handle customer queries and provide prompt and accurate responses.

NFT wins contract with Asda for dedicated Primary chill distribution out of Manchester and a new depot in Crick.

Coldstream de-merges as a pre-cursor to the split of Express Dairies from Northern Foods.

NFT wins contract with J Sainsbury for store delivery transport operations in a new depot at Haydock.

The Hemel depot closes, and a long-term tenant is secured for the site. Barnsley depot also closes as Asda build a new centre in the North East.

Northern Foods acquires the freehold for the St Albans site, and NFT builds an extension to house the Bulky range of products for Sainsbury.

M&S volume is moved out of Dronfield, Rawmarsh & Nottingham and consolidated into a new depot at Alfreton.

Northern Foods buy Express Dairies, and Coldstream Distribution is merged with NFT, bringing Primary business through Penrith, Whitefield and Hemel.

St Helens depot is closed.

Chobham depot closes and the Sainsbury chill picking operation moves into St Albans.

NFT takes on the Asda Goods Not for Resale picking operation at Barnsley.

NFT opens its transhipment hub in Crick, closing Rugby depot.

Northern Foods buy ex-Hunter Sapphire business in St Albans – NFT takes on an ambient store order picking and delivery operation for Sainsburys.

The leasehold is acquired for Barnsley depot, with NFT running a National Consolidation Centre for small order manufacturers, with onward distribution into the new Asda RDC network.

Dronfield Foods acquires Lowfield Cool and breaks into the Primary Chill market with depots in Chobham, Rugby & St Helens. The new business is re-named NFT Distribution, the “NF” paying homage to Northern Foods.

Northern Foods sets up a small distribution company, Dronfield Foods, to consolidate Northern Foods Dairy product and deliver to Sainsbury stores in the Midlands.
