About Us

NFT is the market leader in the provision of  time critical logistics services to food and drink manufacturers and grocery retailers.

Since 2006 NFT has been an independent business, backed by a combination of its management team and Phoenix Equity Partners - and despite the current economic climate, the company continues to go from strength to strength. This is largely due to two key factors:

  • NFT's trusted reputation over 30 years in the time critical logistics industry, and
  • Major investments in infrastructure, systems and people to take the company forward

NFT is the leading dedicated time critical logistics provider with both “made to order” and “made to stock” product capability - guaranteeing your products arrive in peak condition at the time the retailer needs them.

So, what are we all about?

Firstly, we don’t expect all of our customers to be the same – so NFT doesn't provide a “one size fits all” solution. Individual customer needs and requirements are taken into account and bespoke solutions are developed for each account. We also provide new customers with full support during an operational start-up within their own despatch area, making sure the deliveries are accepted first time, every time by the retailers. NFT has seven UK locations ensuring nationwide coverage

Our people apply their expertise and technology to create industry leading time critical solutions. But what’s leading today is standard tomorrow – so we’re constantly asking ourselves how we can combine people, communications and technology ever more effectively to create solutions that are better for retailers, manufacturers, their customers and the environment – hence our strapline “thinking ahead”.

NFT has seven UK locations covering the whole of the UK as well as carefully selected partners for Irish deliveries. This means we don't have to use pallet networks and can keep subcontractors to a minumum - so your product is safe in our hands.

With our background as part of a large manufacturing organisation (our parent company was Northern Foods plc until a management buy-out in 2006) we understand the often complex issues faced by our customers.  Our dedicated Customer Services team is fully trained to proactively deal with any issues that may arise, often before our customers become aware of them.

With key relationships at a strategic level, NFT is the only time-critical logistics expert who can provide the intelligent link between the manufacturer and the retailer.

Financially secure with £125m annual turnover and substantial cash at bank, NFT has a flat structure which enables a fast track decision making process – critical in such a fast-moving environment.

As for our environmental credentials - by their very nature, logistics operations are not thought of as "environmentally friendly".  However, NFT is very aware of the impact its operations may have on the environment and has made significant investment to minimise this impact, including the latest low-emission vehicles and aerodynamic trailers, the use of double-deck trailers to reduce journeys, using a 5% bio-diesel fuel mix and CFC-free trailer fridges, and pioneering a charity donation scheme reducing landfill by up to 75% - as well as introducing a diesel-only company car policy and cycle to work schemes for our staff.

We've achieved accreditation in Environmental Management (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health and Safety (BS OHSAS 18001) as well as gold and silver RoSPA Safety and MORR Road Risk awards at our sites. The NFT team with the prestigous Asda 2009 awards

Last year saw NFT winning the prestigious awards for Asda Primary Carrier of the Year 2009 and Asda National Carrier of the Year 2009 - set up to reward excellence  in the supermarket's national supply chain.  The awards were covered by Motor Transport magazine and the full story can be read here.
